We had a wonderful morning carriage ride with Eric & the beautil horse Marion. Eric was full of information and shared in a pleasant and entertaining manner. Being that it was my first trip to Charleston is was a great way to see and learn about the city. Highly recommend!

Our tour began in the market district where a heart warming and lively tour was given by Ricky our guide and the hard work of “union man” Fireside.
our family was impressed at not only Ricky’s ability to give a story about each street we toured down but of the business of carriage rides in Charleston.
It was reflective and he didn’t shortcut the history of enslavement in the region.
I think it was 45 to 60 minutes but it felt like more because of how much information Ricky conveyed.
He’s a ball of energy, has a great sense of humor, and a testament to a person who truly loves his job.
I only wish we could of done other parts of the city with him and Fireside as well.
Do this for fun, for learning, and seeing the heartbeat of Charleston beating.

We just went on the tour this past week. It was great! The carriage was comfortable. The horse was beautiful. The guide was entertaining and very knowledgeable on the history of the Charleston area. We were able to learn about the core downtown area as well as some of the popular residential areas. The architecture is spectacular. I would definitely do this tour again.

FABULOUS!!! We took a large family tour with Carolina Polo & Carriage Co. after our oldest daughter got married. It was WONDERFUL! Our tour guide gave us facts and anecdotes throughout our ride that every guest loved, from those as far away as Alaska, to those who live in Summerville. Book your tour with confidence and know that they are authentic!

Missed being able to take a carriage ride but Michael was very kind to bring me back to meet the horses and share a bit of history about the route as well as the care of the horses. He was incredibly knowledgeable and forthcoming with information. I appreciated his time and will plan to ride next time I'm in Charleston!

We had a wonderful tour with a very knowledgeable guide. Sadly, I only remember the horse’s name, Grey Man, but the guide did a great job with lots of historical detail that went deeper than surface facts. We greatly enjoyed the whole experience. All the personnel are extremely kind and polite!

Gray man was great! Daniel was great also. Third tour!

The ride was fantastic! The guide was very talented and informative. It was a cold day but he provided blankets for us to keep toasty We were impressed to say the least. I highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed.

It was a cold winter ride however the team at Carolina Polo company made the experience worth it. Blankets was provided and drinks at local shops was close enough. Caroline was funny and well educated with Charleston history. Thanks for a memorable tour.

Edit to original review: While the carriage ride was not the best experience due to the broken wheel, Carolina Polo contacted me by phone to make amends. They offered a full refund or a new ride. Accidents happen and cannot be helped but the company went out of their way to make it right. I appreciate the effort given.
Unfortunately, this carriage ride was the worst one I’ve ever ridden in. This was my 4th time doing a carriage ride and all of them have been very similar experiences until now. We started with a guide who seemed less than enthusiastic about being there but I could get past that. The carriage was the real issue. About 5 minutes into the ride the back wheel began making a terrible sound and a large bump as it rolled around. Our guide pulled over to call for someone to cut the rubber part off the wheel to stop the bumping. We waited for this to happen for about 15 minutes. After the guy arrived with bolt cutters to remove the wires sticking out of the wheel we were finally on the way again but the problem was still there for about 10 more minutes until finally the rubber came loose and fell off. This began the last half of the trip with a constant scraping sound since there was now no rubber covering the wheel. The guide was nearly impossible to hear but since he was not very good at it anyway the lack of hearing him was not the issue; the constant loud scraping sound was. No apologies, no explanation, no extended time for waiting to have the wheel fixed; just an ask for a tip at the end. Tip: be a little more enthusiastic about a tourist job, get a new wagon if the current one is so broken down no one can hear the guide, update the carriage, keep up with the competition.

Would definitely recommend!
